With Winter almost coming to an end, we are looking forward to Spring. But not all of us enjoy Spring as much as others, some battle with Seasonal Allergies during this time.
But what is Seasonal Allergies really?
Seasonal Allergies, commonly known as Hay fever, or Allergic Rhinitis, is a very common allergic condition with symptoms similar to those of a cold, such as sneezing with a stuffy and/or runny nose, itchy & watering eyes, mouth or skin and occasionally fatigue (general tiredness). This condition is generally caused by allergen triggers, such as pollens from grass, trees or plants, pet hair, perfume or many other triggers. When the body is exposed to these triggers, the Immune System thinks that it is under attack and releases Mast Cells which release Histamine into the blood stream, Histamine is responsible for all the symptoms.
The best way to manage this is to avoid the triggers, if you know what they are, or by taking an Antihistamine, alternatively, consulting with a Homoeopathic practitioner may be helpful as there are a range of different treatment options, such as desensitizing the body using Homoeopathic remedies of the trigger allergens, treating the symptoms and the release of Histamine with specific Homoeopathic remedies or by teaching the body how to modulate its Immune response to hopefully not react to triggers.
